Why should everyone be concerned about climate change?
Climate change poses a significant threat to our planet, ecosystems, and of course human well-being. It affects us all through extreme weather events, rising sea levels, loss of biodiversity, and potential disruptions to food and water supplies. We should focus not only on stopping climate change but also on regenerating our planet to fight back.
How will people with limited resources be involved to make a difference?
Here is when climate justice gains relevance. People with limited resources can make a difference by empowering themselves with knowledge and sustainable alternatives. However, they should not do it alone, but as communities and with the help of government bodies and organizations that promote sustainability in all social spheres.
Point out three major challenges in addressing climate change.
- Reaching global consensus so that the planetary efforts against climate change are unified and represent significant changes throughout the planet.
- Overcoming social and economic barriers to embrace sustainability changes around the world, transitioning to clean energy, and embracing green technologies that take precedence over endless economic growth.
- Getting the governmental and state powers to have the fight against climate change as a priority on their agendas so that firm initiatives are developed with adequate funds and deadlines.
How can we fight against misinformation about the subject?
We can encourage critical thinking based on innovation so that people can seek information from reliable sources and that this pushes them to take action in their daily lives, in addition to informing others. This should be done from formative ages in schools.
List three primary, yet feasible, changes which we can adopt to minimize the impact of climate change in our daily lives.
Reducing our carbon footprint by using low-energy appliances, driving less, and walking, biking, or using public transportation instead of driving when possible.
Conserving water by reducing its consumption at home, fixing leaks, and using water-efficient fixtures and devices.
Supporting sustainable practices, such as reducing waste, recycling, using electronic means instead of printing, and sourcing food and other products locally.
